Black and white cockades were the earliest patriotic statements in America. The color black came from our British heritage (they had black cockades) and French assistance during the Revolutionary War (their cockade was white). George Washington himself ordered that black and white cockades be worn by the Continental Army.
This cockade is approximately 3" wide and the streamers are approximately 4" long. The pin back is silver-plate and 1" wide. It is based on an original cockade that honored President Washington.
